Project Timeline

This page is intended to give you some idea of the sequence and timing of events in the redevelopment project.

Activities to date

2013 Sale of North Caversham Baptist Church premises at 191 Kidmore Road, provides funds that can only be spent on building works.
2014 Initial meetings with potential architects to explore options for the building.
Two architects commissioned to produce concept studies to explore outline ideas.
2015 DLK Architects, and their architect, Neil Barr appointed to lead the development of the initial plans.
Three potential schemes developed in partnership between Neil Barr and representatives from the church.
The three schemes were shared with the church. One scheme selected to take forward to detailed feasibility work and a community consultation.
Structural engineer and quantity surveyor engaged to support the next phase of work on the design and estimated building costs.
Detailed survey of the building commenced to ensure we have accurate layout plans and full records of architectural features to inform the design process.
Community consultation launched to get feedback from our local community to help develop our plans.
CBC consultation leaflet, pdf download distributed to almost 15,000 local homes and businesses.
Redevelopment web pages launched.

Anticipated Future timeline

The future progress is clearly subject to a number of factors outside of our control, but the following is intended to give some idea of the likely sequence and timing of future milestones:

Engagement with Baptist Union Listed Buildings Committee to discuss the plans and invite their feedback on what may be permitted.
Detailed design work completed based on feedback from community consultation and the Listed Buildings Committee.
Development of detailed cost estimates.
Applications submitted for listed buildings consent, planning consent and building regulations consent.
Launch of fundraising campaign.
Consents received.
Detailed construction drawings produced.
Tendering process launched to select a primary contractor.
Primary contractor selected.
Building closed and handed over to contractors.
Construction work commences on site.
Construction work completed and building reopened.
