Now meeting at Queen Anne’s School

For the next few weeks, we will be meeting in Queen Anne’s School on Henley Road while the heating system in the main church is upgraded. We will also be continuing to support those who are unable to be with us in person by providing a DVD of each service for those who are not on the internet, and broadcasting recorded elements of the service on YouTube later in the day.

Services will be held in the school’s chapel and will start at 10:30am as normal.

May we encourage you to consider others as we navigate the continuing pandemic and our building project. In doing so, we are asked to ‘be completely humble and gentle; be patient, bearing with one another in love. Make every effort to keep the unity of the Spirit through the bond of peace’. Ephesians 4:2-3

Our desire is that each person coming to church will feel welcome, comfortable, safe and free from anxiety.

To help with this, the trustees ask that you read and follow this advice:

• Please stay at home if you feel unwell or have been asked to self-isolate. If you consider yourself to be in a vulnerable category you may want to consider whether to attend in person.
• During the building project access to the worship area is via the side entrance in South Street. There is one toilet (including baby change-table) available near the door into Prospect Street.
• The church car park is not available until the building redevelopment project has completed, which is expected to be the end of February. Chester Street car park is free of charge all day on Sundays, Waitrose max. 1.5 hours, Iceland max. 3 hours.
• We request that on arrival you use the hand sanitiser provided and, as a courtesy to others, wear a face covering while in the building. There is a designated seating area at the front of the worship area on the left for anyone not wearing a mask.
• Please take guidance from the stewards, who will help to ensure that seating is appropriately spaced.
• Services last approximately 45 minutes, to limit the time we spend together in the building. Children and youth gather with the adults in the main worship area at the start of the service, then meet in their groups (ages 0-4, 5-10, 11-14) in the rooms behind the worship area.
• We encourage you to bring your own Bible to church rather than using one from the shelf.
• Singing is allowed, but we request that you sing quietly to minimise the risk of spreading infection. Congregational singing is limited during the service but, weather permitting, we gather outside for singing and fellowship at the end of the service.
• To help friends who are unable to come to church, we video-record some elements of the service to DVD and broadcast the recordings later on YouTube. By carefully positioning the cameras and seating we only film people taking part on the stage. Please let one of the stewards know if you have any questions about data privacy.
• Communion. We share communion together on the first Sunday of the month. The bread and wine are served to each person individually by stewards in a hygienic Covid-safe way.
• After-service fellowship is in the car park. Refreshments are not being served.
• If you test positive for Covid-19 during the week following attending church, please let one of the trustees know, contact the church office on 0118 954 5353 or e-mail: office@cavershambaptistchurch.org.uk
