Ring a bell for Christmas

Join with the community and the churches this Christmas Eve to ring a bell and sing a the Christmas carol “O little Town of Bethlehem” with us.

We’re all going to be celebrating Christmas slightly differently this year, but it’s different not cancelled and so we’re inviting you to join with your neighbours to ring a bell for Christmas and then sing a carol on your doorstep.

The Carol will be uploaded to our youtube channel so you can watch it on your device and sing along with the St. Peter’s Church choir and your neighbours.

Our other Christmas services will be online as usual, so please join with us and encourage your communities to sing along.

The words to the carol are here:

O little town of Bethlehem
How still we see thee lie
Above thy deep and dreamless sleep
The silent stars go by
Yet in thy dark streets shineth
The everlasting Light
The hopes and fears of all the years
Are met in thee tonight

For Christ is born of Mary
And gathered all above
While mortals sleep, the angels keep
Their watch of wondering love
O morning stars together
Proclaim the holy birth
And praises sing to God the King
And Peace to men on earth

How silently, how silently
The wondrous gift is given
So God imparts to human hearts
The blessings of His heaven
No ear may hear His coming
But in this world of sin
Where meek souls will receive him still
The dear Christ enters in

O holy Child of Bethlehem
Descend to us, we pray
Cast out our sin and enter in
Be born to us today
We hear the Christmas angels
The great glad tidings tell
O come to us, abide with us
Our Lord Emmanuel

We wish you Comfort and Joy this Christmas.
