Christmas shopping in Caversham

Award winning shops, cafes and restaurants in Caversham are throwing open their doors for a special late night opening event in the run up to Christmas.

The late night evening will be on Friday 7th December with many shops opening until 8pm giving shoppers the chance to pick up special festive gifts without the crowding, queuing and parking problems that hit bigger shopping centres at this time of year.

After a couple of years off, due to the precinct redevelopment, the traders have felt it’s time to open late again and visitors will be able to browse and buy in a number of independent shops offering some great and exclusive gift ideas including handmade cards and gifts from local artists, jewellery, designer women’s clothes and accessories, crafts, flowers, dance wear, toys, books and much, much more.

Chris Walton, Chairman of the Caversham Traders Association said: “Caversham is the ideal destination for Christmas shoppers as it has such a diverse range of independent specialist stores. Our Christmas Shopping Fayre will welcome visitors to enjoy all of these at their leisure – and perhaps finish off the evening at one of Caversham’s fantastic restaurants – there’s Indian, Chinese, Greek, British, Thai to name just a few.”

Caversham Library will also host some entertainment as will the precinct.

Caversham Baptist Church will be on the steps of the church singing some of your favourite carols throughout the evening too, as well as offering tea, coffee and other refreshments during the evening. We will also bring your favourite carols to the precinct, where more entertainment is being planned.
