Every second Sunday we meet to walk and pray in your street. We will be praying next down your street on Sunday 10th June from 19.00.

We’re praying for you

Every month, no matter what the weather, members of Caversham Baptist Church, leave the comfort of the church building to walk the streets of Caversham and pray for the residents, for the businesses and for the buildings that make up our village.

We do this because we believe God hears our prayers and our prayers can make a difference to life in our streets. We have seen many miraculous things through the years at Caversham Baptist Church, through the power of prayer, from Healing, to finding a new job, from Children to renewal. God has been involved with all our prayers and we believe we can make a difference through prayer.

We could, of course, stay in Church and pray, and we do that at other times during the week. But, we wanted to get to know the streets we are praying for, to see the houses we are praying for and to meet the people we are praying for.

So, every second sunday, we will be walking down your street praying for you. Praying for the job you do, for the schools you attend, for the shops you go to, and for the street you live in.

If you would like to know more about this, then please contact us using the form below or on 0118 954 5353, complete the form below if you have a specific prayer request or would like us to knock on your door as we pass.

To contact us please use the email link at the bottom of the page.

If anyone ever told you that following Jesus would make your life easier – either they were not following Jesus or they were lying or they had an unusual experience of life.

Jesus never promised comfort, but He did promise fulfilment.

At Christmas we remember the circumstances of Jesus’ birth. At the most inconvenient time to his mother, the Romans ordered everyone to return to their hometown for a census.

If God could have planned the baby’s arrival a few months earlier or later, it would have been less unpleasant. As it was Mary had to give birth in a field or a stable rather than in her own home.

The privilege of being the mother of God’s Son included the cost of sharing His suffering. When God came to earth He gave Himself few advantages.

He was born homeless, his early years were spent as an asylum-seeker and he was raised in a peasant family.

This was because Jesus not only wanted to identify with humanity, He wanted to identify with the least and lowest.

Eventually He died a criminal’s death on a cruel cross. In doing this He conquered death, sin and Satan. He made it possible for us to know God. God the creator who made us, who gave us gifts and strengths/weaknesses.

God who has a purpose for each one of us. God who loved us so much that He gave His only Son so that, those who will turn to Him, may be reconciled to Him forever.
