Youth clubs in Caversham

Getting bored with the humdrum of Friday nights? Are you wanting to get out and do something, but there’s no where for the children?

Well Caversham Baptist Church may well have the answers.

From 5.30pm your year one children (5 -7 year old children) can come along to Gems the youth club for this age group and do craft, play games, have video evenings.

from 6.45 your 8 – 11year old children can come to Pebbles and take part in video games, do craft and drama. And much more and all this while you enjoy a cup of coffee on Caversham Baptist Church, in Costa Coffee shop in the Precinct.

So, if you want to get out and meet new people then come along leave your children in our care and we’ll take you for a coffee.

And, if you have 11 – 16 year old children, then CBC is the place to be on a Friday night, for computer games, air hockey, darts, snooker or just a place to chat to your mates. Come along from 8pm to the new look Caversham Baptist Church youth club every Friday night.

Time4U

Time 4 U is a chance for you to take a little time for yourself in amongst your busy week. A chance to get a coffee, a biscuit and talk to friends.

A fun-time group is provided for the children, so while you enjoy your coffee and a chance to relax your little ones have a chance to play in our well provided creche area.

Hymn Cafe

Come along to the Hymn Cafe, a chance to relax with your favourite hymns, some home made cake and a nice cup of tea.

It’s a chance to reminisce about the old times, meet old friends and make new ones, all while singing your favourite hymns. There will be an opportunity for you to choose your favourite hymn and to tell us why that hymn inspires you. A chance to hear what inspired the hymn writers and how these hymns have changed the lives of the people who live in Caversham.

Hymn Cafe starts at 3.45pm and finishes at 5pm.

So if you like a piece of cake, enjoy a natter over a cup of tea and a good old sing to some of those great old tunes, then Hymn Cafe is the place to be.

We meet at South Street every third sunday of the month at 3.45pm.

CCA Drop-in

Each Wednesday drop in to Caversham Baptist Church for a coffee, a biscuit or a cup of tea and discuss your needs.

The CCA drop-in is there to help you and to provide you with the right services you need whatever your financial circumstances.

So from Midday until 2pm, drop in to the church and we will be glad to help you.

HOW INCONVENIENT

If anyone ever told you that following Jesus would make your life easier – either they were not following Jesus or they were lying or they had an unusual experience of life.

Jesus never promised comfort, but He did promise fulfilment.

At Christmas we remember the circumstances of Jesus’ birth. At the most inconvenient time to his mother, the Romans ordered everyone to return to their hometown for a census.

If God could have planned the baby’s arrival a few months earlier or later, it would have been less unpleasant. As it was Mary had to give birth in a field or a stable rather than in her own home.

The privilege of being the mother of God’s Son included the cost of sharing His suffering. When God came to earth He gave Himself few advantages.

He was born homeless, his early years were spent as an asylum-seeker and he was raised in a peasant family.

This was because Jesus not only wanted to identify with humanity, He wanted to identify with the least and lowest.

Eventually He died a criminal’s death on a cruel cross. In doing this He conquered death, sin and Satan. He made it possible for us to know God. God the creator who made us, who gave us gifts and strengths/weaknesses.

God who has a purpose for each one of us. God who loved us so much that He gave His only Son so that, those who will turn to Him, may be reconciled to Him forever.

Caversham Baptist Church is at the heart of Caversham’s community, and also its village centre. We offer you a warm welcome to our website and also if you visit us, we hope you will find a warm welcome from our Church family.

We are an all age church stepping out in faith and working together, to bring the good news of God’s love to the people of Caversham. We hope to have something to offer every member of the family, from the new born baby to those who may not be as agile as they once were.

We have two churches in Caversham, Our South Street building is the main church for all our activites and worship, we also have a daughter church in Kidmore Road where we meet most Sunday evenings.
