Meet The Team

   

ROB BEARDSLEY
Pastor  

Pastor Rob, studied at Spurgeon’s College and comes to Caversham with a huge amount of life and church experience, bags of enthusiasm and a real passion for God. He is Married to Jan and has three grown up children and two Jack Russels.  

    

SHEILA GOLDSMITH 
Secretary  

Sheila manages the Christian Community Action ‘Drop In’ which meets at CBC each Wednesday between 12 noon and 2.00 p.m., and is a Tutor in Listening Skills for the Acorn Christian Healing Foundation, leading courses in the Reading area. Sheila, a widow, has three children, seven grandchildren and one great –grandchild!  

    

RICHARD WILSON
Treasurer  

Richard looks after the church’s finances, ensuring we are doing the right things with the money that has been given to us. Richard is married to Tamsyn and they have one son, he works as a director of IT service operations for Cable & Wireless and is keen to build his own house one day.  

    

MEGAN TEMPLE
Children’s, Families and Community Worker   

Megan is the Children’s and Families Worker. She works part-time co-ordinating the children’s and young peoples work and developing ministries to families within the church and the community. Megan used to be a secondary school teacher, she is from New Zealand, is married to Roger, and they have three daughters.  

STEVE BURT
Preaching team

Steve oversees the website and also some of our evening services. He is also one of our teachers and preachers, although he thinks he’s a young leader but growing all the time. Steve is married to Katie and they have three girls, by day he’s an IT engineer.

 

SUE CANTWELL
Prayer

Sue looks after the prayer life of the church, a cornerstone of a worshipping community. She is also one of the church’s worship leaders, and plays piano in the worship band. Sue is married to Steve and they have two grown up children, she is a public consultation manager for Thames Water.

 

CHRIS HAM
Children and youth

Chris oversees our childrens’s and youth work and leads our friday evening children’s work with his wife Jan and also leads our teenage bible study groups.  He has three daughters and two grandchildren andprints books for a living.

 

ALAN STRONG 
Fabric, hospitality and pastoral care

Alan is responsible for the fabric, catering and hospitality, a very busy job as his team welcomes you to Caversham Baptist Church.  He also has a particular desire to see men come to faith, and is involved in BMM.  Alan is married to Shirley and has two grown up sons and four grandchildren.
